Rikisuke Yamanaka graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from Keio University in 1997 and was admitted to the Dai-ni Tokyo Bar Association in 1999. He joined Ushijima & Partners in the same year. In 2006, he received an MBA degree from the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business.
Rikisuke is the principal partner in charge of labor and employment law matters at the firm. He is recognized as a “recommended” lawyer by clients in Labour and Employment, Corporate and M&A, and Dispute Resolution practices in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific 2024. He has adeptly handled many domestic and international labor disputes and has advised in nearly every facet of employment law, including: employee downsizing, termination of directors and employees, workplace disciplinary actions, workplace harassment, whistleblowing, corporate investigations, non-competition agreements, compensation restructuring, protection of personal information, mental health protections, employment contracts and work rules, usage of independent contractors, worker dispatching, visas and immigration, government labor standards inspection, and negotiation with labor unions.
He is fluent in both English and Japanese and is comfortable working in both languages.
