Dr. Melek Onaran is the legal consultant of our law firm. She particularly specialises in all aspects of employment and industrial law.
Melek represents clients in their dealings and disputes with employees, unions and governmental entities from various sectors, including chemicals, packaging, cosmetics, machinery, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, steel, services, telecommunications and has been involved in highly
leveraged transactions with cross border elements. She offers legal guidance on complex legal issues such as those that can arise in large-scale cross border transactions or outsourcing projects, as well as challenging restructuring projects and subsequent dismissals.
Apart from above, she has extensive experience in domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, and supervises all due diligence works in relation to such investments.
Melek worked as an associate professor in the Chair of Employment and Social Security Law of Istanbul University School of Law between the years of 1986-1999. She earned her first LL.M. degree in Employment and Labour Law at Istanbul University, School of Law in 1990, and pursued her Ph.D studies at University of Friedrich Alexander in Erlangen/Nürnberg, and she earned her Ph.D degree in 1999 in Private Law at Istanbul University, School of Law. She has earned her second LL.M degree at Georgetown University, Washington D.C in Securities and Financial Regulations in 2002.
She is a member of Istanbul Bar Association, Istanbul University Law School Alumni Association and Izmir American Collegiate Institute Alumni Association. She is also a registered foreign lawyer in the UK.
Melek was admitted to practice in 1999.
