Tenacious lawyer listed in Who’s Who Legal

Oct 25, 2021

Bermudian lawyer Juliana Snelling has been included in a prestigious law directory for the fifth year in a row.

Ms Snelling, partner and director of Canterbury Law on Victoria Street in Hamilton, is listed in Who’s Who Legal: Labour and Employment Benefits 2021.

Publisher Tom Barnes wrote in a letter to Ms Snelling: “I would like to congratulate you on being nominated by your peers as one of the world’s leading practitioners in this field.”

Ms Snelling was pleased to be included.

“It is helpful to reinforce to our stakeholders that Canterbury Law ranks among the best employment law attorneys around the world in terms of the quality of work and legal advice that we produce for our valued clients,” Ms Snelling said.

“As for my career, I have practised employment law here in my home country for 26 years and I’m not sure a publication will improve it at this point, but it is hugely gratifying to have the quality of my work and advice validated by an international respected publication.”

Gambrill Robinson, associate attorney at Canterbury, said the firm was elated.

“The employment and labour attorneys selected by WWL are those individuals who received the highest number of nominations from peers, corporate counsel and other market sources, and who have been identified as outstanding practitioners and the very best in their field,” Ms Robinson said.

The latest edition of WWL highlighted 1,250 market-leading lawyers who are relied on by clients around the world for quality advice on individual and collective contentious and non-contentious labour and employment issues.

Ms Snelling is the only Bermudian lawyer to be recognised.

Her entry reads in part: “Ms Snelling’s principal work involves advising local and multinational companies, public authorities and high-level business executives on Bermuda employment, labour, immigration and human rights issues. She also advises in civil disputes generally, including contract and tort disputes, landlord tenant, defamation cases and personal injury matters.”

Ms Snelling co-founded Canterbury Law Limited with fellow director Paul Harshaw in 2012.

She won a Best of Bermuda Award from The BERMUDIAN magazine for most tenacious lawyer and for being the go-to lawyer for employment and immigration advice in 2012 and 2015.

She is also a founder of Grateful Bread, a monthly feeding programme, and has been active in helping people disadvantaged by the pandemic.
