Employment Law Alliance Expands Member Firm Roster in 2016

The Employment Law Alliance (ELA), the world’s largest network of labor, employment and immigration lawyers, with member firms in 135 countries, all 50 U.S. states and each Canadian province, is closing out 2016 with eight new or geographically expanded member firms – a record for the global legal network.

This expansion further serves to demonstrate that we are the go-to global provider of employment law services for multi-national companies,” said Stephen J. Hirschfeld, ELA Founder and CEO.

Joining the new member firms that follow are the previously announced additions of BLP (Central America - Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua), Posse Herrera Ruiz (Colombia), Rodrigo Elias & Medrano (Peru) and FortneyScott LLC (U.S. District of Columbia).

France

August & Debouzy is consistently ranked one of the top French law firms. Their 130 attorneys practice across seven specialty groups. August & Debouzy’s Labour Law Department advises companies throughout France and internationally on domestic and cross-border issues, including labor relations, restructuring and international mobility. Notably, August & Debouzy took home the “Gold Trophy” for “Best Labour Law Team” at the 10th Annual Trophées du Droit ceremony.

Oman

Addleshaw Goddard, ELA’s member firm for England, has expanded its ELA affiliation to include Oman. The U.K.-based firm provides ELA clients with on-the-ground resources in Oman via its office in Muscat. The firm’s Employment Group consists of 40 attorneys  and provides corporate clients across the globe with counsel on all manner of labor and employment issues related to the employer-employee relationship – from recruitment to retirement – and on a broad range of immigration concerns.

Spain

Gómez-Acebo & Pombo has joined the ELA as its member for Spain. The Madrid-based firm, with offices throughout the country (Barcelona, Bilbao, Valencia and Vigo), provides clients with a full range of services across 19 practice areas, including its 2016 Chambers and Partners – Europe-listed Employment group. The practice, which provides a wide range of services to employers in Spain and beyond – including counsel on issues such as collective bargaining, regulatory issues and employee relocations – was lauded in Chambers by clients as being “responsive and quick” and “tak[ing] the time when they need it, dig[ging] deep and [offering] in-depth knowledge."

St. Maartin

BBV Legal, ELA’s member firm for Curaçao, has expanded its affiliation to cover St. Maartin. The firm provides legal services to local and international corporate entities, governments, private clients and non-profit institutions. Its attorneys advise and litigate in matters within all areas of civil and administrative law. Co-founding Partner and ELA primary member attorney William ten Veen frequently lectures on labor law at the Foundation for Professional Training for Attorneys. For the last 10 years, he has authored a labor law column for Amigoe, the largest Dutch newspaper in the Caribbean.

Tanzania

ATZ Chambers, has joined the ELA as its member firm for Tanzania. A full-service corporate and commercial law practice headquartered in Dar es Salaam, ATZ  adopts a practical, commercially vigilant approach to problem solving and strives to develop long-term client relationships. The firm is consistently ranked as a leading legal practice in Tanzania by international directories including Chambers Global and PLC Which Lawyer?.

West Virginia

Steptoe & Johnson PLLC has joined the ELA as its member firm for West Virginia.
