SyCipLaw recently participated in the Society of Construction Law Philippines’ (SCLP) National Conference, “Future-Proofing the Philippine Construction Landscape: Law, Technology, and Sustainability” as a Silver Sponsor. Held at Hilton Manila Newport World Resorts in Pasay City on October 9, 2026, the conference brought together lawyers, engineers, and professionals in the construction industry.

Senior Partner Ricardo Ma. P.G. Ongkiko and Partner Jose Florante M. Pamfilo represented SyCipLaw at the event. Ricardo gave the opening remarks as the Vice President of SCLP and member of the organizing committee. Ricardo emphasized that, considering the substantial growth of the Philippine construction market, there is a need to reform contractual frameworks, leverage emerging technologies, and strictly align practices with global sustainability benchmarks.

Jose joined the panel discussion on “ESG in Construction: Benefits & Challenges in Implementation,” which explored the relevance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) to the construction industry, the benefits and challenges of implementation, and key considerations for incorporating ESG requirements into construction projects.

SyCipLaw remains committed to helping clients navigate the evolving legal landscape of the construction industry, including the implications of ESG regulations on construction contracts and projects.
