SyCipLaw has launched its Sustainability Blueprint, a strategic framework for implementing the Firm’s commitment to responsible growth, operational excellence, and long-term value creation for its clients, people, and relevant communities.
Developed with the support of PwC Philippines as external consultant, the plan was presented to the Firm’s legal staff in August 2026 and subsequently to the non-legal staff in September 2026 to promote awareness and engagement.
“The Sustainability Blueprint is about how we actually run this office day-to-day, how we use our resources, how we treat our people, and how we hold ourselves to standards,” said Hector M. de Leon, Jr., Managing Partner. He added, “We are not trying to become a different firm. We are just trying to become a better SyCipLaw.”
Sustainability Mission and Themes
The Sustainability Blueprint rests on the following mission:
“To pursue sustainable growth by conducting our business in a manner consistent with our environmental, social and ethical responsibilities.”
The Sustainability Blueprint builds on existing initiatives and has identified the ESG issues that matters most to SyCipLaw and its stakeholders after stakeholder engagement and benchmarking against international standards and industry best practices. It is part of the implementation of the Firm’s five-year Strategic Plan.
Three Sustainability Themes
The Sustainability Blueprint centers on three themes supported by specific commitments —
Environmental Stewardship Through Responsible Use of Energy and Resources
SyCipLaw seeks to reduce its operational environmental footprint through responsible resource use and the adoption of sustainable practices across the Firm’s operations. A key aspect of this approach is increasing the use of renewable energy across the Firm’s operations over the next five years.
Empowering People and Uplifting Communities
Recognizing that its people are its greatest asset, SyCipLaw is committed to fostering professional development, well-being, engagement, and an inclusive workplace culture. The Firm also remains committed to expanding access to justice through pro bono legal services and community initiatives. These priorities will be supported by programs that strengthen employee engagement and retention while encouraging meaningful participation in pro bono and community service efforts.
Upholding Integrity, Ethical Conduct, and Data Security
As one of the Philippines’ top-tier full-service law firms, SyCipLaw is committed to uphold the highest standards of professional ethics, confidentiality, risk management, and information security, reinforcing the trust placed in it by clients and stakeholders. The Firm will continue to strengthen its information security framework and compliance practices in response to evolving risks and regulatory requirements.
As one of the first, if not the first, major Philippine law firm to work on and formally adopt a broad scale sustainability plan, the Firm sees the launching of the Sustainability Blueprint as a challenging but necessary milestone.
