Katie Priest is a Shareholder, practicing in the firm’s Employment Law and White Collar, Corporate Compliance, and Government Investigations sections. Ms. Priest represents employers in relation to any employment-related issue, and advises companies (small and large) on a wide range of business and employment issues, including hiring, managing, and terminating employees in compliance with state and federal law; defending against claims of discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, retaliation, and failure to pay wages; and on drafting and enforcing employment agreements and employment-related policies.

Ms. Priest also has significant litigation experience in state and federal court defending companies against claims relating to Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), and the Utah Uniform Trade Secrets Act. Ms. Priest also regularly appears before the Utah Anti-Discrimination and Labor Division (UALD) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) on behalf of companies facing claims made by current or former employees.  She has significant experience representing clients in matters involving other state and federal agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission, Utah Division of Consumer Protection, and the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. Also, she has experience representing clients in criminal matters.

Currently, Ms. Priest serves as a hearing officer for the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and has instructed police cadets on criminal and civil law issues.  She was selected for inclusion in Mountain States Super Lawyers (2019-2022) as a Rising Star in the category of Employment Litigation: Defense. She was included on Best Lawyers 2023 list of “Ones to Watch” for Litigation – Labor and Employment.
