José Balta is head of the Labor and Employment practice group, who specializes in advising domestic and international companies on labor matters.
He earned his law degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (1990) and holds a Master's in Industrial and Labor Relations from Cornell University, where he was a Fulbright scholar.
José Balta is considered an expert in labor law. He advises on collective bargaining and provides general advice to companies on hiring, on immigration matters and has intervened in some of the most important labor litigation cases in Peru.
He has been teaching courses on Labor Law at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP) since 1996. He has published sundry articles and a book on sexual harassment in the private sector.
