Sufen Zhang leads the immigration practice at Miles & Stockbridge.  She handles all aspects of business immigration, including nonimmigrant and immigrant visa matters, immigration compliance, and representation of employers involved in worksite enforcement actions.

Sufen assists employers in technology, healthcare, higher education and manufacturing, among other industries, in navigating the complexities of securing work authorization for foreign workers. She has successfully represented local, national and international employers in obtaining authorization for employees to work temporarily and permanently in the United States.

In addition, Sufen develops immigration compliance strategies and programs for employers of all sizes and frequently conducts compliance audits, both as part of internal reviews and in the course of due diligence for companies involved in mergers, acquisitions or other corporate transactions. She also helps clients develop immigration policies and procedures and provides immigration training for in-house counsel, HR managers and front line supervisors.

Sufen’s track record in helping clients meet their immigration needs effectively and efficiently is grounded in her attention and commitment to fully understanding every client’s business objectives and to crafting immigration strategies that support and promote those objectives. She focuses on finding creative and thoughtful solutions that satisfy her clients’ immediate legal needs without compromising their long-term goals.

Prior to joining Miles & Stockbridge, Sufen was a judicial clerk for the Hon. Pamela J. White of the Circuit Court for Baltimore City. Prior to attending law school, Sufen worked as an immigration paralegal for several years handling employment-based immigration matters. Through her work experience as an immigration specialist/north campus manager at the University of Michigan International Center, she gained insight and knowledge into immigration issues pertaining to F-1 international students and J-1 scholars.

Sufen is a native speaker of Mandarin Chinese and is conversant in Arabic.
