Abigail Herrington is a lawyer in our Saint John office with a practice focused on dispute resolution, regulatory, and administrative law, primarily in the areas of labour, employment, and energy. She believes in a practical, collaborative, and direct approach and strives to make the legal process a more positive and approachable experience. Abigail has appeared as counsel at all levels of Court in New Brunswick.

In her labour and employment practice, Abigail regularly advises employers on wrongful dismissals, human rights obligations, workplace harassment investigations, terminations and lay-offs, employment contracts, and other legal obligations in New Brunswick. She assists employers in the defence of wrongful dismissal lawsuits, human rights complaints, and other litigation as well as in the enforcement of non-competition, non-solicitation, and confidentiality obligations.

Abigail also regularly appears as counsel before the New Brunswick Energy and Utilities Board for motions and hearings. Her regulatory experience includes electricity and renewable energy, natural gas, hydrogen, and petroleum pricing legislation. She also assists clients with regulatory due diligence and environmental permitting and licensing obligations.

Before joining McInnes Cooper, Abigail refined her abilities as a litigation lawyer over four years at a mid-sized firm and, prior to that, working at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in one of the busiest trial courts in the country. In law school, she was awarded the Goodmans Prize and the McRuer Scholarship for her success in Administrative Law.
