Ignacio is the partner in charge of the Employment/Labor Area at Gomez-Acebo & Pombo. He has been advising Spanish and international companies in all types of employment and labor issues for more than 25 years. He focuses his practice on litigation, having acted at all levels of the employment jurisdiction, including the Supreme Court. Ignacio manages all employment issues related to the transfer of undertakings cases and handles complex employment/labor disputes and conflicts such as collective negotiations, collective dismissals and other restructuring procedures (collective modification of employment conditions, acquired rights). He is a specialist in advising employers with regard to employment discrimination claims (and other types of claims related to retaliation, bullying, harassment, etc.) and contracting issues (top management contracts, restrictive covenants, non-compete, golden parachutes). Ignacio has set up a clear philosophy for the employment law team when counseling to employers: the objective is to provide a preventive advice and efficient solutions to the day-to-day employment issues, guaranteeing a practical vision of the problem and a quick answer.
After completing his University studies (Complutense University, 1991) and a master in Employment and Social Security Law (Complutense University, 1995), Ignacio was appointed a deputy Magistrate at the Madrid High Court (1995/1996). At that time he joined Gómez-Acebo & Pombo (July 1996), becoming a partner in 2003. He is a usual lecturer in the Master for the access to the Madrid BAR at the San Pablo University and has published several articles/publications focused on employment law. Most of the firm’s clients are international, so all the team members usually provide their advice directly in English.
