The coalition government’s ‘long term reform programme’ for the Employment Tribunal system is a work in progress. Several key changes have already been put in place, with further and arguably more fundamental changes in development and expected over the coming year.
For better or for worse, the changes in force and the changes ahead have the potential to have a real impact on the balance of risk in employment tribunal litigation, and on the HR decision making process. This briefing note highlights the need-to-know changes already in force, the further changes which are likely come into force in 2012-2014 and the reform proposals due for further consultation.
